On Far Infrared and How It Affects Your Health

Just beyond the visible spectrum of light lies the region of infrared wave that is mostly felt in everyday life as heat. This section of the entire electromagnetic spectrum is further divided into near-infrared, mid-infrared, and far-infrared segments. Among the three, far-infrared (FIR) heat is the one used for infrared saunas.

Needless to say, infrared energy emitted by most objects and living beings cannot be observed with the naked eye. Heat-sensitive devices, such as mobile phones and night vision goggles, may be used to “see” the invisible light. Among the three portions of the infrared spectrum, the FIR is considered to be the most beneficial for human skin and is now utilized in infrared sauna technology.

The FIR energy, with wavelengths varying from 5.6 to 1000 microns, may be compared to daytime warmth amid a relatively cool weather. The sun’s heat can still penetrate the skin, but doesn’t leave a scorching sensation for it doesn’t affect the surrounding air. FIR waves reach a depth of 1.5 to 3.5 inches into the skin.

For the purpose of detoxification, infrared sauna heaters duplicate the healthy level of FIR waves that the body can readily absorb. As the body’s tissues absorb the FIR rays, toxins can be released by cells into the bloodstream and eliminated via sweating, thereby leaving an individual with a detoxified and cleansed body.
