Benefits of an Infrared Sauna

When shopping for a sauna, you’ll notice that your two primary options are traditional saunas and infrared saunas. The two are different, and it’s important to understand these differences before you make a purchase. Infrared saunas offer many advantages over traditional saunas and are worth serious consideration.

Lower Temperatures

The air in a traditional sauna is typically between 185 and 195 degrees Fahrenheit, which is just too hot for some people and makes them very uncomfortable. An infrared sauna, however, reaches temperatures of only 120 to 150 degree Fahrenheit. This is certainly hot enough to make you sweat, but much more comfortable and tolerable than the heat in a traditional sauna.

Heating Times

You’ll have to wait 45 to 90 minutes for your sauna to heat up if you opt to go the traditional route. An infrared unit, however, is ready to use in 10 minutes. This saves a lot of time when you want to sneak in a quick sauna session but don’t have time to wait for your sauna to warm up.

Type of Heat

Traditional saunas provide a very moist heat and high levels of humidity. This is heaven for some but too much for others. If you’re one of the others, know that an infrared sauna will produce a much drier heat that provides the same health benefits of a traditional sauna but in a more pleasing environment.
