Safety Tips to Remember When Using Infrared Saunas

Infrared saunas are undeniably relaxing, but you’ll be defeating their purpose if you’re not careful. Here are a few safety tips you should take to heart if you plan to use an infrared sauna.

Stay Hydrated

Because you will be sweating a lot, it is very important to drink plenty of liquids and stay hydrated. Before even stepping into the infrared sauna, drink as much as you can. This will not only prevent you from getting dizzy or collapsing during the session but will also aid in the detoxifying process.

Additionally, you also need to replenish your body with water right after you step out of the sauna. Drink at least two glasses of water to prevent dehydration that may take place after you were exposed to the high temperatures in the sauna.

Take Your Skin Into Consideration

Exposure to high temperatures may dry out your skin, so it is advisable to moisturize after your sauna session. Overstaying can also be harsh on the skin and may cause undesirable skin conditions. Stick with the ideal time of 20 minutes during which you can get the full benefits of sauna.

Use a Towel for Your Head

Infrared saunas can be merciless on your hair. Due to the high temperature, exposed hair may become frizzy, brittle and prone to breakage. To avoid any of these conditions, cover your hair with a towel or a turban.

As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is also true when using infrared saunas. Keep these tips in mind to make your sauna session as relaxing and safe as possible.
