Reminders for Safe Home Infrared Sauna Sessions

Spending time in a sauna can do wonders for your mental and physical well-being. That being said, alongside enjoying the advantages of having your own home infrared sauna, you should always be mindful of certain safety precautions that need to be taken prior to each session.

In Preparation

Before stepping inside an infrared sauna, first take a careful assessment of your health condition. If you are fit enough, and your healthcare provider gives you the okay, you can begin regular use of your home infrared sauna. Be sure to drink plenty of water prior to your session, as you will begin to sweat profusely within the first few minutes.

Being Safe in the Sauna

The ideal infrared sauna session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes, maximum. Avoid staying for longer than that, as you put yourself at risk for heat stroke or dehydration. If you wish to enjoy regular sauna sessions, schedule 2 to 3 sessions per week.

What to Do After

After your session, make sure that you hydrate once again. It is also advised that you take a shower post-sauna to ensure that any toxins you may have sweated out will not absorb back into your bloodstream.

Things You Need to Avoid

If you have consumed any alcoholic drinks or medication, it is best that you avoid immediately stepping inside your sauna. The high temperatures in the cabin may lead to dangerous side effects when combined with alcohol and certain medications.
